Greetings:
In the past 7 years our Diocese has closed/merged one-half of the parishes--128 to 64.
I have written and received a copy(for genealogy purposes) of Baptism, Communion and Confirmation certificates---information taken from a Sacramental Register.
All of the records have been moved to the merged church, and at times the original parish closed.
I'm in the process of trying to learn how to create source citation(s)--how would I include the information from amerged parish. Presently, I have attached the Decree for the merger and the formation of the new parish.

Rev. Bradley, turn first to EE 7.24. This provides the basic format for citing a church-issued certificate--which, of course, is a different record (and different quality) from the entry in the original register.
The fact that churches have merged is not a significant factor, when we consider the basic elements of a citation. When we're citing the original record, we're citing the creator of that record, the record itself, and the repository where that record can be accessed today. When we're citing a church-issued certificate, we're citing the entity that created the certificate (that derivative record whose accuracy we're having to trust because the church would/could not make an image copy of the original), along with an ID for the certificate.
