Old Parish Registers (OPR) ScotlandsPeople

I have recently been purchasing images from the https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ website, and feel pretty comfortable with EE 9.56 for citing images from the statutory registers.

However with the OPR's, I am a little confused. To clarify, I am wanting to cite 'images' and not the database.

EE 7.43 clearly explains the cataloging system used by the GROS, which corresponds with research assistance file of the NRS : http://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/files//research/list-of-oprs/list-of-oprs-399-459.pdf

However, when one purchases/downloads an image from ScotlandsPeople, the 'header' on the document does not appear to 'exactly' correspond with GROS cataloging system.

I have uploaded an image for example.

According to the NRS catatoging system research, the Kilconquhar Parish (Fifeshire), comes under OPR 436, with 4 volumes. i.e. 436/1, 436/2, 436/3 & 436/4 with the relevant BMD dates given for the vol.

On the attached parish register image from ScotlandsPeople, they use the reference as:

(Church Registers Old Parish Registers records 436/ 30 212) page 212 of 562.

My interpretation of this is:

436=Kilconquhar Parish, Fifeshire (corresponds with the GROS cat. doc)

30=Volume 3 [B1781-1819] (corresponds with the GROS cat. doc) BUT I do not understand why they would add '0' after the 3 ??

212=Page number (of register? of microfilm?) also stated as page 212 of 562 on the image.

My proposed citation based on EE 7.43 is:

Kilconquhar Parish (Fifeshire, Scotland), Old Parish Registers, OPR 436/3, p. 212, James Mackie, birth/baptism (1798); digital image, ScotlandsPeople (https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk : accessed 17 November 2016)

Is this enough information? Should I also be adding the database path: Search our records > Search for people > Church registers > Births and baptisms > Church of Scotland (old parish registers).

As an FYI, when one actually searches the database to locate the entry, the Parish number is given as 436 and ref 30 312.

It is not necessary include the database path to the image since websites are notorious for changing the location of their files and folders. The name, date and parish info in the proposed citation enabled me to locate the document in less than a minute by doing a global search at ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk .

Caroline Gurney I can't post comments as I'm not registered on the forum. Perhaps someone could let Robyn know that the county should be Fife, not Fifeshire.
