Online Database (Ancestry) v. Online Images (Ancestry)

I'm having some difficulty understanding the difference between Online Database (Ancestry) and Online Images (Ancestry), which have different "First Reference Notes" (EE 6.19). I understand the citations, but when should I use Database versus Images?

Dear Enlightened,

With all the online providers of digital images—who typically offer them in a database that also provides abstracts or index entries—whether we describe our source as an "image" or a "database entry" depends upon where we take our data. If we view the image and take the data from the image, we cite the image. If we take our data from the provider's abstract or index entry (which is a totally different critter from the original) then we cite the provider's database entry.
