Citation Issues

Voter Registers

Will someone please tell me if I have botched this Reference Note citation to a Voter Register for the city of Savannah in 1871?  I accessed the information and image on ancestry.com.

Savannah, Georgia, City of Savannah Voter Registers, 1856-1896, File: “City of Savannah Voter Registers, 1871,” alphabetically arranged, Vol. A to E (1871), William Dunn, p. Irish Family History Foundation - Rootsireland.ie

Hi,

Please bear with me, I am trying to tidy up my source citations and I am relatively new to Evidence Style.

I am having trouble getting my head around the citation of information regarding Birth/Baptism/Marriage/Death records found at Rootsireland.ie .

I have the book 'Evidence Explained, Citing Sources from Articles to Cyberspace' and  the 'Quicksheet, Citing Online Historical Resources', however, I am still confused as to which template to apply in the case of Rootsireland.ie .

I have attached a copy of a Civil Birth Record as an example.

Local Marriage record removed to County Archive

I am having trouble writing a citation for a record of marriage (marriage license, marriage certificate and affidavit for license to marry–all-in-one) which I received from a county archive without any citation except for the cryptic "A0256(1)" which I believe refers to an archive box number. A little research on the archive website led me to a record group and series number. However, I'm having trouble actually identifying the document. I'm assuming it is a local copy since it appears to be a photocopy of a part of a book page of marriages.

Court case document stored under a different court case

Hi all,

I need to cite some unpaginated documents from a court case, let's call it AJ-200. Years after this case was closed, the documents were used as part of another court case, let's call it OJ-500. The files from the AJ-200 case are therefore stored along with the documents from the OJ-500 case.

How do I cite the documents from the AJ-200 case?

Best regards,

Which order for vital record

On p. 430 of Evidence Explained use repository first, the hascert number  then name .on  page 434, section 9.3 for state level record, state to start with smallest then to largest which isexact opposite...  Is either correct?  I prefer the first... I'm trying to update citations from data I've had for more than 30 yearsof research to get more "standardized"  prior to publishing genealogy. Thanks  for all your wonderful work!!!

Citing for Australian BMD

I'm attempting to create a citation for the Australia Birth Index on Ancestry, but not sure who to place in the 'repository' section. The "Australia, Birth Index, 1788-1922" is made up from a collection of different indexes created by each individual state, and each state handles their vital records differently.

In case of South Australia, the BMD Registration Office holds the vital records, do I simple cite the office, as I have shown below?

West Virginia Delayed Birth Certificate Citation

citing a document posted on a website

Hello,

I have decided to go through the excercise of creating a source list entry, first reference note, and subsequent note for all of my sources.  I hope I will get to the point where I "speak the lanage" so to speak and won't need the quick models, but untill then I run into problems when the models don't quite work.  I used quick check model "website as a "book" on page 657.

Any feedback would be appriciated.
