Citing a French repository for German parish records

I use Archives Departementales du Bas-Rhin to research births, marriages, and deaths of my German ancestors from Alsace. I found a birth record today and need help creating a citation. 

I took the image from the French website (https://archives.bas-rhin.fr/detail-document/ETAT-CIVIL-C253-P2-R162395#visio/page:ETAT-CIVIL-C253-P2-R162395-1252787). The birth record was found at Parish and Civil Registers (16th C.-1912, Kutzenhausen - Parish registers (Before 1793) - Protestant parish (Before 1793) - Register of baptisms marriages burials 1714-1736 - 3E253/9. Everything related to the website was in French, and the images with the vital records were all in German. 

I tried to look it up in the book, and the closest thing I could find was 9.49, but I'm not sure what to do with the examples.

Ohiogirl, 9.49 covers French church registers on microfilm, but not church records that are digitized online. EE cannot provide a citation for every type of record, in every country, in every media format. (If we did, EE would be the size of the OED!)  However examples from any one country are applicable to another.

The microfilm example at 9.49 demonstrates the two layers that need to be created for imaged birth/baptismal registers:

  1. the essential details for the original register;
  2. the essential details for the microfilm image.

If we use a digital image online, instead of microfilm in a library, then you use the same structure:

  • In Layer 1, we cite the essential details for the original register;
  • In Layer 2, we cite the essential details for the online provider.

The basic format for citing a database at a website is the same one we use for citing a chapter in a book:

"Title of chapter or database," creator or website or book, Title of Website or Book  (Publication place = URL : date), specific page number of book or image number at website.

9.48 of that "International Section" for vital records provides an example of online birth registrations in England. Whether we are using an English register or a French register or a German register makes no difference in the structure of the citation.
